Hi All,

First off Love Karafun. It's changed my life!

One thing I want to get some advice on: OPTIMIZING KARAFUN and my system for better performance, basically, to cut down on loading time of songs.

I find there is usually 8-10 second wait for loading when I click a song, till it begins playback (and no I'm not talking about the pause most karaoke songs have for the intro).

I do use Videos in my KFP backgrounds, which I make by embedding divx .avis, so admittedly this may slow it down. But I'd really like to hear any ways people can recommend to cut down on this delay?

Oh and if it's any use, my machine is running Vista 32 Bit
and has an NVidia video card with 256mb
I also run dual display setup

I find that if I load my playlist with winrarred files, it does take a few seconds to start each song. If the songs are already extracted, I put the cdg file into the playlist and when I click play, it starts immediately.

unfortunately testing this theory has proved pretty inconsistent for me. even with unzipped files i get between 5-9 second delays. possibly it IS a slight improvement. So may be worth doing, but still i guess it's not as fast as i'd like.

Interestingly though I had been meaning to do a post about why some of my Zips dont open in Karafun.. so maybe by unzipping them all i avoid this.. but i'm a bit nervos about unzipping such a big collection of files!

any other tips kara fellows?

Did some more testing, here's what i found:

- unzipping .rar files makes only a minute difference if any at all.
- Setting system preference to 'background services' has better loading time over 'programs'. If my memory serves, video and audio is handled as a background service.
(But since i was already running background services I'm still no better off. )
- Opening the same videos contained in the KFPs with media player takes very little time. just over a second, when windows media player isn't even currently open.

So must be some way to chop down this 4-10 second wait?
